fished the northern part of barnegat bay the last few nights with poor results. 1st night landed a 33.5" bass on finS. 2nd night read tons of fish on the channel edges suspended at
3-4' but couldn't get a bite in 4 hours of fishing. 3rd night same thing but had a fish on for a few seconds and lost him. Maybe I was reading snappers or small weakies but in past falls bass haven't been picky or scarce. Thoughts????

thanks for the report, and welcome kayakkrazy. Keep at em and Im sure you'll score this fall. I'd still call that 33.5"er a success. Maybe the readings were actually bait fish schools?

I fished Sandy Hook Bay the other night and had a problem with Fire in the Water - phosphorescence. Don;t suppose if you looked? I had been trolling for hours in the dark, marking big clouds of bait with lots of fish under and in them, before I noticed it - only because I was pulling up the anchor line.

I thought it might be due to sewage or other schmutz, but someone I respect told me today that it was almost certaily natural.
