I was speaking to a few anglers at the manasquan reservoir and they said they used chicken liver to catch hybrid bass...

Were they pulling my leg or has anyone heard of such a thing?

If so is it the containers at the market or the "real" pieces of chicken liver...how the hell does it stay on the hook.

They swore by this method!

PS the ranger stated they released 7500 stripers last Friday and only 200 will survive...those are some "bad odds".

I know the guy you spoke with if he had a blue Drifter. I outfitted his yak. Yes he's using the stuff from the store. He anchors and breaks up half a dozen to chum the area. The he puts a piece on a hook and lowers it to the level that his FF is saying they're at. He's done well.

Thanks Jon...it was a couple with a bass boat who I spoke with...very nice people and willing to share. However it appears to be common practice based on your story...Thanks for the info as always.

Even more of a reason to buy a FF NOW

Chicken livers definately catch the hybrids. Used to fish the bank for catfish in Spruce Run and couldn't keep the bass off the hook. Guys coming in on boats couldn't believe it.

Al, you should be able to find tubs of chicken livers in the meat section. I don't know about use as bait, but there's got to be SOME way to make chopped chicken liver!

Yum!

Or should I say, "Meow!"

Baja, sorry so long to reply, haven't checked out this forum in a few days. Anyway, we used to catch them from the grassy area to the right of the launch. It's been a few years since we've done it, not sure if its a regular fish holding spot.
