Default Block Island Fishing/Catching

Went to the Block with a couple of my buds this weekend and slayed fish all weekend. Most fish were caught on the tube. For some reason, eels were fairly ineffective.

Here's a few photos from a great weekend.

Me with a sow

Dave with a nice 25 pounder caught in the Salt Pond Channel

Kevin with a 23 pounder

26-pounder giving me a lap dance

And lastly, a beautiful Block Island sunset

Are the photos not appearing?

A little more info:

All fish were (except Dave 25-pounder) were caught in shallow water over reefs. Tube and worm was the lure of choice as it completely outperformed all lures/baits - including the eel.

We were trolling very slowly 1.0mph to get the tube right on bottom. Tide, current, temperature, or time of day had no bearing on the bite. It's autumn and they are feeding.

Soundfisher, I'm far from a expert so I may be totally wrong but when you pasted them from your gallery the code probably had the http:// in it then if you yoused the insert image button and pasted it doubled up just directly cut and past into the thread. Great shots here's the first:

Well, if it doesn't work, I'm chit out of luck.

To answer your question Row, all tubes were tipped with big arse sandworms.

Dan, the water was rough, confused, and snotty all weekend. But it was well worth it in the end. 24 hours of paddling in 2.5 days. I'm still smarting a bit.

Good news is we go back on Tuesday and Wednesday to do it all over again!!!!

Hey Joe:

There were a few fly rodders working the salt pond and just outside near the channel entrance. Most fish caught by the fly contingent were schoolies with a few pushing in the low 30-inch range.

I'm hoping our trip back out on Tues/Wed is worth it. Forecasters are calling for strong winds both days.
