The 2006 South Jersey Youth Outdoor Day will be held on Saturday, August 19 at the Salem County Sportsmen's Club in Carney's Point in Salem County. This totally FREE event is held to encourage the youth of South Jersey to get involved in outdoor sports & activities. The event provides a great opportunity for beginners to try different outdoor sports without having to buy any equipment or supplies. No selling or solicitation is allowed at the event (except for organizations recruiting new members).
The activities are open to youth ages 7 through 17. All youths must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who will be responsible for their supervision. Participation is limited to the first 150 youths registered, and you must register in advance. Adults who plan to fish must have a valid New Jersey fishing license in their possession.
Planned activities include: non-competitive lake fishing, firearm target shooting (with safety instruction), archery target shooting, fly tying and fly casting instruction. There will be a bass boat display, booths hosted by various outdoor organizations and other activities. Age/height restrictions may apply to some shooting activities.
The event is sponsored by the Salem County Sportsmen's Club, Salem County Ducks Unlimited, West Jersey Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, South Jersey Bass Club Association, South Jersey Fly Fishers, United Bowhunters of NJ, and the NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife. The corporate sponsor of this event is PSE&G. Another sponsor is Shag's Bait & Tackle.
