We enjoy reading your reports. Surf, boats, fresh water are all good.. Pictures are even better.
Good luck, have fun and be safe.

Decent night of bass fishing with Rui although not as fast paced as we have been experiencing recently still a very solid night considering its JULY and water temps are 71-73F where we have been fishing. We had 6 bass total with 3 being shorts, one just keeper sized around 30", another one around 16-18lbs and then a skinny 45.5" bass that pulled the boga down to 32#. All bass released safely!

took the kayak out for the outgoing this morning nomoco out back. Current was really moving and could not get a good drift going. Wind started picking up and decided call it.
Moved to the surf out front, only managed a handful of short fluke, some robins and a sun dial. Bite died down once the tide went out.

Saw what looked to be a weakfish cruising the lip. I've never caught one, so couldn't say for sure but it didn't look like a bass, blue or shad. Is this possible? I'm pretty far north

I think it's because boat fish don't count.

Nomoco out front 5pm to 6pm right before flood tide. South wind choppy with small rolling waves and a shore break with thunder storms and dark skies. I managed to get some time in between thunderstorms, but only had one sea robin and a sundial. When the shorebirds took cover with an advancing thunder boomer, I took that as a sign and retreated: Then things got ugly and I called it off till tomorrow

Hey Guys,
Hate to post this here. I know it's supposed to be just reports, but I was searching for a quick answer and search results were anything but short.

My question is this. How short of a leader can i use off of my braid when using light gear to catch cocktails?

My light setup is used for fluking in the surf. I want to go from braid to leader to tactical clip. This way if blues show up, I can slide off my fluke set up from the clip and slip on a metal.

My set up is the same for both; about 20-22in fluro leader with loop for teaser; works for fluke and blues

Got out this morning before the beaches became a mob scene. 19 shorts and 1 keeper at 19" wouldn't touch pink today, chartreuse was the ticket.

Nomoco Afternoon incoming West wind knee high waves with a shore break. Clean clear water and could see the holes and sand bars. no swim bait observed and could see small 20 inch bass in the trough and lip cruising for sand bugs. Three sundials on the high low rig. No flat ones and couldn't distract the bass.
