Your outfit will be fine, but often the fish will be fairly close or even tight to the rocks. I like an 8'Loomis M-H action for tossing poppers, plugs, and had some nice action with 9" slug go's last fall. You don't need a heavy rod for these and a lighter one is easier to toss for a longer period of time.

Angry Re: jetty fishing

When fishing with 9" slug go's do I match those lures to a bucktail, and do I you use snap or tie directly? Thanks.

Sorry for the late response, I've been away. I tie a snap on the end of my line and attache the slug-go to that. I'll also put a teaser rig on the snap with either a plug or slug-go on the end. I caught a fat short Tues night at the mouth of the Housy on the slug-go and scratched 3 or 4 others split between the teaser rig and the slug-go. The river was pretty muddy from all the rain but the fish were there and pretty active.
