What is too bad is reader confidence is spilling over from fake news into the sports pages. People don't like the press. I meet a lot of strangers at the casino and nobody I've talked to likes the press or the Dems.

Thursday nights game is a little too late for her and I though we might try to watch it at least first quarter.
Often times Thursday night games and late games on Sunday get shown again the next morning 5:30 ish on NFL network. I fell asleep half time with the Pat's game and watched the next day.

The Times mostly sucks, but the Post -- for real -- is seriously excellent. The reporting they do is great, and incredibly important.

If you think that politicians are crooks -- and I do -- how bad would they be without reporters looking over their shoulders?

Its beginning to look like the Pats may rescue their season results after all. It seems so much relies upon having enough good receivers, to say nothing about Brady. If he gets so much as a hangnail New England is gone. I wish they had kept Garapolo (sp)as backup QB because he had huge potential. (of course now he is on the injured list too at his new team).

The new regs protecting QBs might be a good idea though somewhat controversial. Wish we did not so need to protect QBs. Take out a team's star passer and the offense is over, gone. With some of the goons on the football field, you have to know that it going to happen. Its a rough game with even rougher people doing it.

The Pats play Kansas City Chiefs tomorrow, a team that is undefeated. A win against such a strong record would send a powerful message. Hope Momma J and me can stay awake for an 8:00 PM start.

seems like some of the stadium goers are about as classy as the newspapers:

Rob, they are Massachusetts Democrats. They are world class industrial grade puke. They smoke dope on Sunday and carry placards against Sunday hunting. What am I supposed to do? Move to a coal mining state? At my age what am I supposed to do? All I can do is vote against the buggahs.

Hey Rob, check your heritage you might have some Native American blood in your jeans. If you do, you could run for President, Kemosobie

Just got to read about the beer throwing incident today. The 21 year old who threw the beer at the player is being charged by police, is being "disinvited" to all future events at Gillette Stadium by management. Many of us are embarrassed by the incident. But I still stand by my original response made without knowledge of the situation: that the sonofabitch who did that comes from a state where they legalize dope, where the cops are crooked, where our elected Commander in Chief is maligned mercilessly and our Supreme Court appointee is insulted.

in other news, maybe Bill Bellicheat has been passing tips along:

Major League Baseball is investigating the Houston Astros after a man affiliated with the team appeared to be shooting video of the Boston Red Sox during Game 1 of the American League Championship Series.

Belacheat ?Rob, your a pissah. Don't ever change. I thought we had gotten over the pressure in the footballs. Boston Dems are just being liberals. Throwing beer at visiting team players when they score or smashing store fronts after an election is in the playbook, next to football air pressure. Why can't you just light up a blunt like the rest of us Mass guys and enjoy life.

Frank,

There was Tom De-fladdy but Bill's nom de guerre comes more from spy-gate than the flat balls

I know everybody in Jersey is on the up and up. But here in Cheatachusetts the only way to make it is to lie about overtime hours, fix tickets for your friends, be accepted in the clergy for access to child abuse. Then we have Pocahontis. Kimosobie you can't make this chit up. Light up!

Hey Rob,

There is a little something called the ideal gas law that was discovered in the 1850s that fully accounts for the measured volume change given the temperature change between indoors and outdoors during that particular Pats-Colts game.

somehow the phrase "ideal gas law" and rulings in the NFL fit together...

tell it to the comish

(edit: I felt if Tom Defladdy hadn't been so elusive with his cell phone etc it wouldn't have been as big a deal)

When deflate-gate was happening, Neil Degrasse Tyson tweeted something along the lines of the balls would have had to have been at 200 degrees F indoors to account for the measured pressure change. His calculation was incorrect as he forgot to account for the background atmospheric pressure. The gauges that the officials use measure "gauge pressure" which is relative to the background atmospheric pressure, not the absolute pressure which is atmospheric + gauge pressure. The "P" in the ideal gas law (PV = nRT), which you use to calculate the predicted pressure change, refers to the absolute pressure.

He refused to issue a correction to his tweet. So, he is either incompetent at physics at the high school level, or chose his allegiance to the Jets over his scientific integrity. I can't decide which is worse.
