We all know the Eagles won, even if it was by a bobbling receiver tripping and "recatching"-- recontrolling the control -- his crossing of the goal line. Admittedly, it was refreshing to see a call against the Pats for a change.

The NFL has to change the rules so that every close play does not turn into an analysis of the Talmud. The complexity now is ridiculous.

I thought the two big calls (Clement TD catch and the Ertz TD where the ball hit the ground) were correct. But that is sort of beside the point: the NFL has allowed this replay thing to get out of hand, as the original intent was to prevent egregiously blown calls from determining the outcome of games, and now you have people staring at TV monitors to see if the football touched one blade of grass. It's silly.

The only thing they need to do to fix this, actually, is shorten the time of the replay review. Give 'em 30 seconds: if they can't find overwhelming visual evidence to overturn the call that quickly, let the call on the field stand. This will prevent a process where a bunch of goobers act like they're reviewing the Zapruder tape frame-by-frame.

All they have to do is go back to how football was played 15 or 20 years ago. If the runner crosses the goal line with the football balancing on his nose, its a touchdown. Control my ash!

I find it a bit stupid that no one actually has to get in the end zone anymore. That shortens the field.

The Patriots lost

Today, it's an area-wide holiday due to the Eagles victory parade.

Literally, my company and many others closed their downtown offices, most schools are either off altogether or permitted absences with excuse.

I watched a bit of the "parade" while fly tying and funny thing. In Philly, they love to talk trash about other cities, the announcers/news etc are always comparing to what other cities have done, how much better Philly is blah blah blah.

In NYC, when one of our teams win, again, it's just a focus on THAT team, Our city and area, and what WE accomplished.

Philly folks don't realize that to those of us who root outside of the area, Philly is just.... irrelevant

Of course, in this particular superbowl, I was rooting for Philly.

Just because

Greg Schiano is staying on as Ohio State football’s defensive coordinator and associate head coach after previous reports said he was expected to become DC of the Patriots.

I think the Pats, as we knew them, are finished. They are lining up a replacement coach for Bellicheck, maybe in preparation for his retirement. Mr Kraft kept McDaniels who was supposed to take a job elsewhere. Evidence of organizational in-fighting, in one case over the benching of Malcolm Butler rings of contentious issues in the organization. All this stuff is evidence of differences we had never seen before. Nothing is forever.

Belichik is 65 something like that. Brady is 40. Can't last forever.

The entire McDaniels debacle was embarrassing, and guess he deserves the Pats, after his mentor's legacy of stiffing another team.

Did it ever occur to you that Mr Kraft sweetened the offer to keep him? For McDaniels to get the Pats is no punishment. They still have a core organization that is formidable. One game losing to Philadelphia should not imply that the Pats have slipped to second rate. ....especially with the arbitrary calls that cost the Pats the SB.
The Eagles won fair and square but it would be a tragic error to ever think the Eagles could do it again.

Oh, it occurred to me.

It was just a slimeball move on both Kraft and McDaniel's part.

And by "deserving" the Pats, I mean he is on his way to owning his new title:
McCheat.
