Default National Rifle Association?

Seeing as how members here thrive on acrimonious pissin' wars, what is your opinion on the validity of the NRA?

Frank I've been member for years and plan to be for the remainder of my time here on earth. One of the strengths of this nation, as perceived by other nations, is the fact that we as citizens are armed. It is useless to argue with those opposed to the NRA as most arguments accomplish nothing regardless of the subject being argued. the older I get, the more of a tendency I have to step outside and freshen up a chew of tobacco, when a senseless argument begins. The NRA is a strong powerful organization dedicated to the second amendment. Our forefathers got us this far, and not by being ignorant. I sleep much better at night knowing that we have that powerful, concerned organization.

So do I sleep better, Mule. I too have been a member of the NRA most of my life. I just want to go hunting with my wife and those liberals would have me hunting with a sharp stick if they had their way. Shooting trap targets at the club weekends and hunting in season is not an evil activity. Still, here in Mogadishu, they want our firearms and while they are having trouble going against the Second Amendment, they are taxing us out of existence. They always find a way to punish recreational firearms.

Incidently, where can I get some dope to smoke so that I will have something to do on Sundays? I'll bet pot would go well with Scotch.

Nah, I was just kidding'. I can't smoke anything after 40 years of Pall Malls. They said I had a slight case of COPD when I had open heart surgery. I have to keep my lungs clean and my powder dry. If/when I want to get high I drink some Jack Daniels or Scotch then go to bed. Never drink outside the house because that would require driving. I get caught with liquor in me driving there goes my gun permit. Then we would have to buy meat.

There has been some sort of inter-organizational flap between Oliver North and Wayne Lapierre. This is not good for the NRA and no doubt our enemies will make hay with it. Hope it does not get like things in Washington as we have enough acrimonious discord in government without having it in PACs.

Just my thoughts on what's going on.
Getting their house in order and improving their operation. I think the NRA is too big to fail, as the saying goes. These days the NRA is under intense scrutiny from the socialist-democrat nut cases and they have to be prepared for that. There probably was shady stuff going on and that's being eliminated now. Better for the NRA to get out in front of it before the enemies do. Change isn't scary. It's necessary

All organizations have their little inner-organization differences. They will sort it out within. But what is bad is that the NRA has a lot of enemies who will make hay with it. Now, with this, our national political acrimony gets fuel for its fire. The liberals thrive on this stuff.

This is a wildly cogent speech which I would recommend to all our members. I plan to pass it on to friends. I am also going to listen to it again. Thanks for putting it up.

I had never hear of Mr. Freitas before today, but I am impressed. Neverrude is right, this man should run for national office.

With all the acrimony directed toward the NRA, it is refreshing to hear his fine presentation. Members here should click on and listen.

People think you can legislate against gun crime but it is not that easy. Here in Mogadishu we have strictest gun laws and we still lead in shootings. Background checks? They don't even get permits. "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." Seems I read that somewhere.

The NRA which now is internally flawed is the only shield we have against the oncoming attacks.

Deal with it or learn to run bare XXX in the woods.

Oliver North blew a whistle on the NRA. This former marine is nobody they should fool with. I think they kicked him out of the NRA because he disapproved of NRA waste; not sure.
