Default Andrew Luck

As Cris Carter put it, the biggest unexpected retirement since Jim Brown. I think that with an average offensive line in front of him Luck would've rewritten the NFL record books. As a Stanford alumnus, I may be slightly prejudiced. Anyway, he is choosing his health and his family over additional fame and fortune. More power to him.

I'm sure it was not an easy move for him. But looking at the whole picture of life I would say it was the right move providing he can live with it in his mind.

Part of athletic greatness is just having a body that can take the punishment, another is having a great team around you. They never gave him a decent line and he was absolutely punished.

It was shocking, but good to see.

There are just athletes whose bodies allow them to get injured, take punishment and yet recover faster. We probably all know folks who just have the genetics to take punishment, then there are the rest of us.

Good for him, but it was the most shocking retirement I can remember.
