Default How often do you change lures and locations?

I?m trying to maximize my limited surf fishing time on a trip to Nantucket next week.

Do you pros walk the beach if a spot you?ve worked doesn?t yield any strikes or follows?

How often do you change your offering?

I?m the guy who will cast him arm off and my perseverance is usually rewarded but I?m wondering if lucking into the odd stray is the way to go or if I?d be better off moving and trying different spots after X minutes (or hours).

Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, experience often dictates both changing lures and moving. When I am out a LOT, I get a feel for what has been going on, and changing offerings: color, presentation, part of the water column... makes sense if I feel they "should" be there. Other times I'm hunting for stupid fish and just keep moving from spot to spot based on structure, tide and conditions.

Good question, I'm sure the real "pros" will chime in soon

If not, you may want to pose this in the New Jersey forum or even in the current reports thread, as more people seem to keep that bookmarked lately.

Thanks Rob. My family is already there and I'll be joining them Friday. I love Chicago but I'm so jealous of folks here that get to fish throughout the season! Getting about 7 days every two years to fish in the surf adds a lot of pressure.
