Re: The King Is Gone
whenever someone of his era dies, brings me back to conversations with my Dad as we watched golf tourneys on TV. He "hated" Nicklaus

funny thing; my Dad loved Palmer and did not like Nicklaus; parents retired to South Florida near Jack; my Dad was a huge baseball fan, coached me in Little League and came to every game I played until I "retired" at 18; he was at a game watching my nephew (his grandson) in Florida and Jack was in the stands watching his son play; my Dad sat next to him and they talked about watching your kids play sports and my Dad was so impressed he changed his mind....still wanted Arnie to beat him though

Re: The King Is Gone
Arnie was so popular with our Dad's generation, that when Jack came along, somehow his look and approach just rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way. Meeting someone face to face will often change that perception, happened to me many times (obviously not with celebrities).
