Default Reel Repair: Penn 704Z?

Folks,

Do any of you know of a shop that can repair a 704z in Monmouth County?

Either that, or if they have a bailless conversion kit?

Frank: that too Actually lost a screw last night. Turned out to not be much of a problem, which led me to think the bailless conversion might be a better way to go.

If I was mechanically inclined, I might attempt this myself, but I know that once I got this thing apart (assuming I had the part(s) ), it wouldn't be going back together correctly, even
if I had a diagram.

Scotts in Mystic probably has the screw, check online get the spring too. Diagram is online, its not hard at all.

Kits for the 704 are a tough find and you will need the screw anyway...

The kit is very easy to install. It is the first and so far only mod I have done to any of my reels. Took about 10 minutes on each and they work great!

As Frank said, the kits are hard to find. They stopped making the manual bail kit, but I hear they may produce a bundle in the near future. You can get what you need through the site Bob posted.

There is one manual bail kit going on eBay. Just search "704z" The price may skyrocket due to the demand.

Brielle B & T usually has at least one set.

I actually never made it to Brielle that day as it turns out and just too much on the plate right now.

I did go to scott's b&t web site and noted they have the bail screws as well.

I have it duly noted to check at one of those places when the opportunity arises.

thanks all, for the info (although I do better with electronic schematics than any 3 D diagram of a reel, by far, thus beyond the most superficial repairs I would in no way attempt a rebuild of one of these reels without a lot of time to run back and forth for parts that I would either break, misplace or outright lose in the process )
