Question Party Boat Stripers

Never tried party boat stripers before, but since I have off tonight, I was thinking bout giving the ANGLER a try out of AH...
Have 20lb conventional boat rod, and a MH spinning outfit with 30lb power-pro..
They say they are clamming on the hotline, but do you need to bring your own bait?? Squid, bunker, and such??
Is it worth trying party boat stripers, or just stick with the bottom fishin on these?? What is the tangle situation on a party boat with bass anyway??
Any and all help in that regard, greatly appreciated..

THANKS,

jOE

I think they've actually been wormin for bass and doing fairly well.

Best bet is to get a stern corner so if you're anchored or drifting, it'll be easier to get away from others' lines.

Shouldn't be too much of a tangle fest unless it's railed and they really get into the bluefish. Then the mates will be working extra hard so remember that when tipping.

head out, have fun, catch em up!!!

Pretty sure they'll have worms on board. Probably a few free with you fare and then sell some additional ones if you need.

Ask the mates to rig you up as they'll know what's working and not. They'll either be using a fishfinder type rig, high/lo, or 3way rig with a longer drop to the sinker.

Only fished with them a few times, but the day crew were top notch.

Pretty sure Capt Danny takes the boat out at night. He's good

Worming I like to use a 3 way with a dropper loop for the weight. Clams and ESPECIALLY chunks I like using a fishfinder rig. Fishfider rigs will work fine too while worming... Catch em up!

Well? When did you go & how did you do? Tell us about the trip, fishing, etc...Please? I've been considering partyboating it for stripers as well seeing I did so poorly this spring.
Thanks.

Yeah, got thru the bumper to bumper traffic and made it in time...
Lemme tell ya.. best mates and captain ive seen in a long long time on that ANGLER boat.
it was a wind against tide situation last week, so it made the fishin tough, but I managed a keeper bass and lost a few that were on for a bit then got off. Some guys tossin eels... It wasnt solid action, but the way that crew worked spots so that everyone could get over fish made up for all of that.
It wasnt real crowded, but still ya had a few of those party boat tangles.. Mates worked magic on just about every one, and got you back fishin asap...
Will try it again, maybe the Sunday 5-10 run, where the fares get a shot at some flukin for an hour or so before dunkin worms for the stripers..

Hey, just remember, during the heat of summer, July-Aug. they dont use clam at all.. It's strictly a wormin deal, with maybe a tiny tiny eel thrown in for variety.. Caught my bass on the worms, and from what I could see the smaller bass would just worry the eels and not hook up, while the worms would get whalloped!! Even tho I didnt see any giants hooked up.. Every bass was very respectable, and the keeper/short ratio was mostly keeper size, and very healthy fish..
Everyone used that 3 way rig with the short leader for the sinker.. Very simple and effective rig for drifting. The mates make em up, so unless your a ringer you dont even need to haul the bulky tackle box on.

Thanks alot!
I'm not sure what a ringer is If it is someone who brings a big heavy tackle box because he's too OCD & would hate to not have "just the thing" for any spices that might be in the area, but only ever does so so, then that's me. Thanks for saving me the effort & sore back.
Thanks again for the report/advice!

The next few days of South winds should keep the stripers around.

Can't say the same about the Flukin' w/ south winds, full moon, ripping currents. But, then again who knows
