Default A couple after dark.

Snuck out after a client tonight for 45 minutes and did good. I saw a bunch of birds and fish in the late afternoon so I headed down to the vicinity to throw my secret weapon. I got two bass and three or four hits. The second I got on the last cast (my wife called and said dinner was almost ready) so I guess that would be considered leaving them biting. It was a dark night with heavy fog so I tried black and it worked right away, so then I switched to white to see if it would make a difference...it didn't. I was happy, but wanted to stay .

lucky you!, I was in SH, no one was catching fish were I was. I drove to LB and deal, I did not see anyone fishing. I stopped in LB for few casts and no one was out there.
I also stopped in RB and met a guy who said no bites.

Is it legal to fish in LB after dark?

Sure, why wouldn't it be? I've done it a bunch of times with no dire consequences... is ignorance bliss?

where is LB?

You absolutely can fish in Long Branch after dark.

BTW, have all the big fish gone south already?

here is a delaware bay picture:

I saw a good sized group of birds picking on a relatively large body of fish spread over a large area in Belmar yesterday. Before I met with my guy I saw some birds working out off a jetty and not really moving in any direction fast (typical bass pattern), so I could not help but give it a shot. So I went out on the jetty tip and there were birds working agreesively but out of my casting range, like twice my casting distance. But there were scattered birds gliding on the water sporadically and not just flying...acting funny (hunting or seeing something). They were in my range at one point briefly. So I put on a pencil and got a good hit where a bass blew all the way out of the water, it was about 26" I would guess but it was extremely aggressive which I see as the bass on the feed. I made about 20 more cast and then had to skadaddle. It all looked promising. So I returned to the scene after dark. I would have called it a pick at best, but the hits and couple fish showed promise.

There was no one out last night and the water looked great for fishing. I thought maybe the town does not want us after dark.

They might not want us soon. I have heard some reports about cops telling people they can't fish at night, no tickets just told them to leave. As for now its not illegal. I'll guess we'll have to wait and see how this one plays out. The more money they throw the less access we'll have.

When you say RB do you mean the bay or red bank? I would assume the bay. Has anyone ever fished red bank for anything other then snappers and actually caught anything. There's not much in the way of fishing spots in red bank to my knowledge. If I'm wrong please let me know.

no one is going to tell you when Red Bank is hot, but let me just say that I've
seen striped ones being pulled in from some public spots in Red Bank (or maybe Middletown )

as to Long Branch, people only fish there when they're told "it's hot"
otherwise they all go to Deal.
