Exclamation Brian Lipski: 55 Lb "South Jersey" Striped Bass

This is the "last bass" of May 2012. Don't have a lot of details but the pictures and information was forwarded by Biggestsquid.

The fisherman is Brian Lipski. The bass weighed 55 pounds and measured over 50 inches. Don't know if it was caught on a plug or bait but my guess is bait. "Squid" tells me that Brian has been running every night from Cherry Hill, NJ to the southern Cap May area for the past few weeks. Hell of a great prize for putting in the time and effort!

That's a hell of a ride each night. Good to see it paid off.

Brian's trophy was caught on clam and on his first cast of the evening. He was setting up a second rod when the first went off. He thought he had a good sized shark at first. He said it took him 45 minutes to get her to the beach.

His hand held scale had the fish at 57#. After discovering that they were unable to get her going again he decided that he would have the fish weighed at an official weigh station where it tipped 55#. I'm not sure of this point but I think the official weighing may have taken place the following morning.

It is one of the prettiest stripers that I have seen --- and Brian may be one of the happiest anglers that I have seen.

Congrats to a fine guy and a devout fisherman!!

That big of a fish, Cape May, standing on sand??? That is a specticular fish, Grats Brian! So much sweeter when no electronics are present when caught. Awesome!

Wow, a 55lb. fish off the beach caught on clams. I can't even calculate the odds of such a catch. It might be the biggest fish ever caught from the surf on clams. You just never know.
