Friday, April 10, 2015 (8:26 a.m.) - On Thursday, April 9th at the Stafford Township Municipal Building in Manahawkin, the New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council (Council) voted in favor of new 2015 regulatory actions regarding black sea bass, summer flounder and the state?s Striped Bass Bonus Program.

oh joy, a slot fish. Looks like I'll be using the bonus tag this year for the first time :D

It is a bonus. Is it correct to assume that it kicks in after criteria, presumed to be 1 @ > 28 and 1 @ > 43, is met? Or is It an anytime fish?

Looks like the slot bonus will take effect after Sep 1, and once voted bonus tags will be suspended until then

The current bonus is in effect until the new slot one is out of legal review. 2 - 3 weeks. When that happens the bonus program is suspended until 9/1.

I understand you will not be able to purchase a bonus tag during that time. What happens if you already have one?

It would be great if all are suspended effective immediately as that would stop the excess breeders from being harvested.

Marine Fisheries: Crab and Lobster Management, N.J.A.C. 7:25-14, and Marine Fisheries, N.J.A.C. 7:25-18

PUBLIC NOTICE
Take notice that the NJ Department of Environmental Protection is proposing amendments to the rules governing the management and harvest of certain fish within the State at N.J.A.C. 7:25-14, and N.J.A.C. 7:25-18.X The proposed amendments address license availability and reporting requirements in the commercial blue crab fishery, the issuance of commercial crab pot and trot line licenses, the revocation and suspension of those licenses, and the nullification of reporting violations in limited circumstances with regard to suspension and revocation of those licenses.X Proposed amendments also address various aspects of the blue crab, tautog, bluefish, black sea bass, and summer flounder fisheries, including the closing and reopening of seasons, the removal of previous reporting violations and nullification of reporting violations in appropriate circumstances, restrictions on the use of gill nets, the allocation of certain fishery quotas, crab pot and fyke net reporting requirements, the expansion of the definition of fish dealer to include bartering, and clarification that the prohibition on the sale of less-than-minimum-length fish also includes bartering of such fish.
